PRAIRIE SOAP SHACK
What sets Jessica Mose’s skincare and soap apart is that she infuses the prairies into her products.
“My family forages for different wild plants and we grow a large garden on our farm in Central Alberta to then harvest, dry, and infuse the herbs and flowers into oils for each formulation. This carries the essence of the prairies into our brand, creating nostalgic connections with our customers but providing a modern and effective product that is beautiful. For example, our Saskatoon Lemon Pie soap has pureed fresh saskatoons that we pick from our native Saskatoon trees in our pasture, mixed into the bar of soap creating an anti-oxidant rich and skin-loving soap but also memories of picking Saskatoon berries as a child in the heat of July then baking a pie with Grandma. I only use natural colourants and scents, which is a fun challenge at times. I use traditional techniques of soap making, also using locally rendered tallow and local goat milk and paired with a promise of using no plastic and keeping zero-waste in our packaging, creating a sustainable brand.
Our studio is in the basement of our home on our farm by the Red Deer River, and we really do have a “prairie soap shack“- a cute herb drying shack outside for all our plants to hang and dry.” – Jessica Mose
