A life-long love of fabric and making, and design school to assist with the technical growth and excellence, followed by years of experience in couture, teaching and manufacturing directions, Liz Cohoe loves to sew and couldn’t wait to get to design school to learn more.

The hat love springs from appreciating the individual qualities and features of every face. The inherent ability of a hat shape to extend the attitude, make adjustments to the lines of the face, and sharpen up specific features to prominence.  More importantly, her desire to make an apparel item that is not only beautiful but useful, long-wearing, and having integrity.

The advent of coat making allows a larger amount of boiled wool or mohair to enrobe one’s self within. To feel the luxury of the coat, knowing it is highly functional and eye-catching.

“My work is a daily practice, though being the owner of the business, I have many other tasks before I get to cut and sew. Hence, I have amazing people working with me, every day. With me, they have created and maintain our high standards, and they support themselves with their work.  As a team, 5 of us have been together for over 20 years.  And we have a training program for a new stitcher.

Our hats are found in hat shops throughout Canada and the US, and we are the last Made in Canada hat maker of any size remaining. Every hat is made in my studio, individually by hand from start to finish. No work is sent out.

A small or large head is no problem for us, we make hats in 5 sizes, to fit all sizes. We also make men’s hats, again in this size range.”
